Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands connected to every organ and all parts of the body. A treatment, usually applied to the feet, involves a deeply relaxing massage of the feet alongside applying gentle pressure to the reflexes. A full treatment is very relaxing and works on all the body systems to improve health and well-being.

Reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease and it is suitable for all age groups. It is effective in treating a wide range of conditions and those of particular note include:

• Stress-related conditions, Sleep disorders, Headaches & Migraine,
• Poor circulation, Hypertension, M.E., M.S., Diabetes,
• Menstrual/hormonal problems (e.g. PMT, Menopause), Fertility problems,
• Asthma /respiratory problems, Sinus problems,
• Bowel & digestive disorders (e.g. IBS, heartburn),
• Musculo-skeletal pain (e.g. backache, stiff neck), Sports and Repetitive Strain Injuries

Reiki is a Japanese system of healing, that boosts the body's subtle energy (chi) levels through light touch, this can help to remove blockages which may be causing or leading to illness, pain or emotional problems. It also stimulates the body's own natural healing processes, effectively providing pain relief and is very relaxing.

Reiki treats the whole person and very much on an individual level. The body will heal in the order it feels it needs, which may not necessarily be linked to symptoms. Reiki is beneficial for most problems but it can be particularly helpful for:

• Stress related and Nervous conditions
• Physical pain relief (e.g. backache, headaches etc)
• Emotional pain relief & support (e.g. grief, depression, addictions etc)
• Energy Boosting (like topping up a battery!)
• Gives great comfort and better quality of life in terminal illness

Reiki is suitable for all ages and levels of health. It is also highly effective for animals.

Hopi Ear candle (Thermo Auricular) Therapy is a relaxing clearance therapy for the ear and head area and is particularly helpful for sinus and ear problems along with tension related conditions, such as migraine. It is a deeply relaxing therapy and has a calming effect so is beneficial for irritable or stress related conditions.

Both ears are normally treated and this is followed by a relaxing ear, facial and head massage which aids lymphatic drainage, eases sinus pain and tension in the head. Hopi Ear Candles can effectively help with:

• Sinusitis/Rhinitis, Glue-ear, Headaches & Migraine, Congestion (eg.Colds),
• Noises in the ears (Tinnitus), Excessive/compacted earwax, Stress-related conditions

N.B. This therapy is suitable for all ages but is not recommended if you have a current ear infection, ear grommets, or have had a perforated eardrum within the last 6 months.

The Metamorphic Technique is linked to Reflexology, but uses only very light touch on the spinal and reproductive reflexes on the feet, hands and on the top of the head.

These reflexes are thought to correspond to the gestation period in the womb, and coupled with the very light touch; this therapy is able to deeply relax both on a physical and emotional level. It is thought to help gently release emotional blockages formed in early life, which affect most of us through phobias, bad habits, fears, personal effectiveness etc as well as recurrent physical illness.

The metamorphic technique works on a very subtle level and often it's effects are the same, so gentle that it is often not until a few weeks after an appointment that a client will notice something, usually of great significance has changed. It is helpful for:

• Phobias & Fears (e.g. fear of spiders, wasps etc)
• Personal Effectiveness problems and Nervous tension (eg. Problems with interviews/exams/meeting people etc)
• Negative behaviour patterns (e.g. keep making the same mistakes)
• Recurrent physical illness (especially if unexplained by GP or not responding to conventional treatment)

The Metamorphic Technique is suitable for all ages and levels of health.

Reflexology & Reiki Workshops
Janferie runs regular Reflexology workshops here at the centre and offers mainly individual one-to-one Reiki training at her home.

The Reflexology workshops are designed for use on self, friends and family. In the workshop you are shown how to work on your hands to help with various health problems (eg headaches etc) and also on a partners feet to help relaxation and a variety of problems (sleep problems, menstrual pain, backache etc). They are always run as a small (less than 10) informal group and in a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. For further details please contact reception.

Reiki training is usually done individually as it is often better for the student to have one-to-one attention, but it is possible to adapt for couples /close friends. The form of Reiki is USUI SHIKI RYOHO (which is the most common in the West) but includes much of the original Japanese teachings including a strong focus on Self Healing and Hatsurei practice, which sadly few others teach.
