Podiatry (Chiropody) HPC Registered

Chiropody, or Podiatry as it is now known, is the treatment of conditions affecting the foot and conditions caused by abnormal foot function

There are many conditions that podiatrists routinely deal with, e.g. callous and corns, ingrowing toe nails, thickened toe nails, and verrucae.

This practice can also carry out nail surgery and electrosurgery where appropriate.

Podiatrists can also treat conditions that are caused by abnormal foot function. This area of practice is known as clinical biomechanics, and can involve the use of in shoe devices known as foot orthotics. There are many conditions which can be caused by abnormal foot function e.g. arch pain, ankle pain, shin pain, knee pain, hip pain and low back pain.

Many recurring sports injuries can be attributed to abnormal foot function. This practice specialises in the treatment of sports injuries; Mr McKerrow is one of the few podiatrists in the U.K. to have a masters degree in this subject, and is consultant podiatrist to many of the local sports injury clinics and also the Highland Institute of Sport.
